Valley of the Sun, finally
Once we hit Arizona, we were able to get away from the rain storm. We made it to the Phoenix Area and are spending a few days with Amy’s family.
The campground that we are staying at has roads named after the baseball teams that do Spring Training nearby. We were assigned Rockies Road, a great name given the theme.
Once we set up camp, we visited Amy’s mom before heading to dinner. We met with Kristin, Amy’s BFF from high school. We ate at Taco Guild, the building is a former Methodist church whose cornerstone dates back to 1893! Amy made the serious faux pas of ordering enchiladas in a restaurant with taco in the name. They were delicious anyhow. The tacos and street corn also got rave reviews from us. And it was great to catch up! We will be seeing her again this summer.

This morning, Greg went for a run while Amy went for a walk along a path in an Arroyo near our campground. The path was not as nice as we had hoped, as there was a lot of trash along the way. We both saw a coyote who was watching us closely.

Afterwards we took Amy’s mom to Costco, since it’s her spiritual home. We brought back a salad and chicken for lunch.
Then for dinner, we headed downtown to Pizzaria Bianco, our favorite restaurant in Phoenix. Chris Bianco was there and we had a short conversation with him. Apparently Pizzaria Bianco was recently profiled on a show on Netflix, making it harder to get reservations. We sat at the bar and enjoyed watching the pizzas being made. There were as delicious as ever.
