Super Bowl Sundae

Super Bowl Sundae

On Sunday, we drove from Daytona Beach to Bradenton, on the West Coast of Florida. This resort has spots that are owned by individuals. When owners aren’t using their campsites, they rent them to visitors like us.

The community has been super friendly. Our neighbor helped us park our rig because the turn was super tight. We had a long conversation with someone who has two Teslas at their spot. And several dog owners stopped by on the daily walk. People have not been shy about sharing their political opinions, from far-left to far-right. We’ve kept our opinions to ourselves.

They held a Super Bowl party in the clubhouse, which started with an ice cream sundae bar supplied by the complex, because it’s Super Bowl Sundae! Then there was a potluck for snacks. Greg way over bought with hummus and bagel chips and peanut butter pretzels and Buc-ee’s Beaver Nuggets. The beaver nuggets were the hit!

The party spread was not as good as a typical Glockner Super Bowl party

Several people asked who we were rooting for. When we explained that we are from Seattle, we managed to turn everyone into Seahawks fans, at least for the night. Ok, a few just wanted to root against the Patriots. We were also the farthest from home, which prompted a lot of questions about our journey.

We shut the place down, mostly because we were more interested in the outcome of the game than anyone else. Now that the Seahawks won, Ari pointed out that we scheduled our trip in the wrong order. Had we stopped here first, we could be saying: “Now that we won, we’re going to Disney World!”
