Peanut butter sandwiches

Peanut butter sandwiches

Still no update on the car. Tesla has not started to look at it yet. We are grateful to Craig and Gail for their hospitality this week.

We decided to explore some parts of Atlanta that Greg hadn’t seen when he was a student here. The first stop was the Carter Center, the second Presidential Library of our trip. We both think that the LBJ library was more interesting. We had brought lunch with us, as we often do. We didn’t plan it, but we packed peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Turns out it was an appropriate choice! We wish we had planned it. We did check the cafeteria where they had sandwiches but not peanut butter. The only peanut product we found were peanut M&Ms.

After we finished lunch, we headed to the King Center which is only about two miles from the Carter Center. The area is under construction including the visitor center and the home where Martin Luther King Jr was born. The only place that was open was the original Ebenezer Baptist Church. A ranger gave us the history of the church. The church has moved across the street to a nice new building and the original church has become property of the NPS. In the 140 year history of the church, they have only had five senior reverends. The current senior Reverend is Senator Rafael Warnock. He still comes back every Sunday to lead services! The gravesite of the MLK was moved a few times, but it is currently located at the King Center surrounded by water, a lovely tribute.
