Today we tried to go to a few smaller lesser known museums. Tried being the operative word.

First though, we needed morning sustenance. So today’s bagel was from Bagel Pub. Unlike its name suggests, there is no beer sold there. They do have an enormous variety of cream cheeses. So many flavors you’ll scream. Greg had a sesame bagel with lox scallion cream cheese and Amy had a pumpernickel bagel with guacamole cream cheese. The bagels were not hot, so they needed to be toasted. Bagel score: 7/10.

First museum stop was at the Museum of Mathematics. We got there before the 150 students arrived. This place was similar to Puzzling World in New Zealand, in that Greg could have gotten lost in the puzzles.

Our next museum didn’t open until noon, so we took a quick detour to Cha Cha Matcha for a quick pick-me-up. The drinks were great, but we stood out as we’re not 20-something women.

The second museum we tried to visit was at the Fashion Institute of Technology. We thought it would be interesting to see their students gallery. When we arrived, we were told that gallery is closed to set up for end-of-year student projects. Instead, we decided to try the gallery at Parsons School of Design. Amy checked the internet and it showed that the gallery was open. The internet was wrong! Greg then suggested the Smithsonian Museum of Finance on Wall Street, but we learned that closed permanently last year. So we had lunch and a nice walk around the garment district.

This evening, we went to Smoke jazz club for dinner and the first set with Cyrus Chestnut. Dinner was good - better than what we expected for a club though not quite as good as a top restaurant. And no barbecue, despite the fact that the club is called Smoke. (BBQ and jazz sound/!like a great idea though).

As we finished dinner, the Cyrus Chestnut trio played a set, and it was at least as good as Greg remembered. And much better than the jazz program we heard earlier this week at Smalls.
