The Mountain is Out

The Mountain is Out
Yes, the mountain is out!

I know that we said there would be no post today. We just drove from Springfield Oregon to Redding California. Then Greg dewinterized the trailer! So we are spending our first night in the trailer in a year! But that’s not interesting enough for a post.

Last night Daniel texted Greg that they were driving their EKKO north on I-5 as we were driving south. Daniel and Ada were kind enough to meet us at a rest stop outside of Yreka, CA. We got to see their latest modifications, and we go to show off our Bowlus. It was a really nice break in a long drive day, though we admit we were a tiny bit jealous to see their EKKO while ours is still waiting for repairs.

We then hit the road and saw the clearest view of Mt. Shasta either of us have ever seen. Next, we stopped at the Supercharger in the town of Mt. Shasta; it’s a favorite of ours because they have one pull-in charger where we don’t have to unhitch. Initially, someone was using that one pull-in charger even though there were plenty of other spots available. Luckily he was willing to move for us. While the vehicle was charging, Greg ducked into the grocery store nearby. There was a woman who had a bottle of Shasta Soda in her cart. Who knew that Shasta Soda still exists, but this was the ideal location to buy it!

We reached the campground, then Amy bought groceries while Greg de-winterized the trailer and made some minor repairs. Fortunately, he had a spare part to fix a minor water leak. Finally, we are sitting in our comfy trailer with the heat on, spending the evening relaxing because we need it. Or at least Amy is relaxing, since Greg doesn’t understand the meaning of the word “relax”. Also, according to some law somewhere, our campground is across the road from the freight train tracks. We may need to ask Ari for tips on sleeping near train tracks.
