The grape crusher

The grape crusher

We started the day with ideas for sightseeing: Sutter's Mill, museums of Sacramento, perhaps a park. We soon determined that many things were closed on Xmas eve, and we didn't relish the idea of spending the day outside in the rain. We got away from rain in Seattle, after all.

Instead we went directly to pickup our trailer, the Noble Spirit, which was in storage near Sacramento following our trip to Yosemite in September. They gave her a good cleaning and she looks great! So much better than our self-cleaning at the Brown Bear car wash. Seems that we should get her a professional cleaning more often!

Squeaky clean!

We went inside to secure a few things and were greeted by the loud chirp of a dying battery on the carbon monoxide detector. I’m really glad we discovered this now instead of at 3 AM. Finding a replacement battery wasn’t easy on Christmas Eve, especially while pulling the trailer through crowded parking lots. Three stores later, we found new 9V batteries and drove to our campsite in Napa, where we will stay for three nights.

After a quick search for a good site to view the sunset, we found a 15 foot statue of a grape crusher. So we quickly parked and took some photos.

The rest of the evening, we cleaned and organized the RV so that it is ready for our adventure.
