Surfin' USA

Surfin' USA

This afternoon Ari got his surfing lesson. The waves cooperated this time.

Beforehand, Amy and Greg took a walk in Malibu Creek State Park. It was a nice path through a lovely canyon. We passed by a location where they shot Planet of the Apes. However, we didn’t make it to the site where they filmed M*A*S*H because we had a deadline for the surf lesson.

Site of Planet of the Apes. Not my photo.

We are staying at a campground in Malibu called Surf Outpost. We stayed here last year and loved the location enough for a return visit. Our site is overlooking the ocean, and our Tesla remembered the location so that it folded the mirrors when we returned! Unfortunately, it has been overcast most of the time, but I am listening to the ocean waves as I write this.

At 1:30 pm, Ari joined his instructor at Trancas Beach in Malibu for a 90-minute surf lesson. Ari said it was tiring but a lot of fun. If the surf cooperates, he may squeeze in another lesson before we leave Malibu tomorrow morning.
