On the road

Today we moved from Santispec in Bahía Concepción to the town of Loreto. This was not a new drive for Greg: he drove this stretch four times already because Loreto was the closest airport for Amy to fly to the US. There are only two flights a day from Loreto to the US. Luckily Phoenix was one of those destinations.

We went from a beautiful beach location to a city RV park. The Loreto RV is convenient to town but it’s a crowded city location. Most of the others in the RV park are Canadian snowbirds. A grumpy old man came around to complain that another vehicle in our caravan had running the air conditioner running; when Greg explained that she needed to keep it cool for her dogs, the man stormed off.

This afternoon was spent with chores: cleaning the RV, filling the water tank, etc. We took a quick trip in for groceries. The supermercados have some recognizable brands and some Mexican brands. We have been very amused by the number of jumbo packages marked Kirkland Signature, which look the same as Costco products back home except that the labels are in Spanish as well as English.

When in Mexico in March, a jumbo can of pumpkin is not what we crave

As we were getting ready for our drive, Greg gave a special greeting to his favorite dog, Pippi. Pippi’s owner Nancy mentioned how she knew that Greg was only there to greet Pippi, not her. Greg responded that he liked Nancy too, just not as much as Pippi!

Tomorrow is a tour of Loreto.
