Off we go!
Today is the day to leave for Alaska! Actually, we left a day early: Amy was able to reschedule an appointment so that we could leave on Tuesday evening, after rush hour. This fulfills one of the goals for this trip: to travel far and wide without exhausting ourselves. A novel concept for Greg!
On the trip, we only expect heavy traffic around Seattle and Vancouver. Today fulfilled these expectations thanks to rush hour, rain and construction. A small SUV rolled over on I-405 near Lynnwood; we probably missed the accident by less than a minute. Fortunately, the driver seems to have walked away without serious injury.
Tonight, we’re staying in the RV parking lot at the Angel of the Winds casino, run by the Stillaguamish Tribe. That also makes it another new experience: boondocking in a parking lot. Probably something we will do more often in the wilderness along the drive to Alaska. They also have cheap diesel and a pretty nice coffee bar, so we’ll be ready to cross the border tomorrow.
