Joshua Breeze

Joshua Breeze
Joshua Tree, too!

We're currently sitting inside the inside of Joshua Tree National Park. Let me explain.

We departed Bakersfield before the storms hit, reaching Joshua Tree around the same time as the storms. There was some flooding of the roads, though that was no problem for the lifted suspension on R2V2. Along the way, we saw several snow plows on the mountain passes, preparing for the storm. We were confused why snow plows would be needed, since the temperature was 51F as we drove past the summit.

We arrived at the campground about 90 minutes after check-in. Our campsite was still occupied, though the prior occupant moved once we asked. Then, after 48 hours and 1300 miles of driving, we crashed hard: we took a nap. Yes, even Greg! Nap complete, and now we're sitting inside the RV while all 15,250 lbs gets shaken by the wind. (Or to borrow from Amy, all 6917 kg, for all who celebrate).

We might take a walk this afternoon. Or just continue to rest. We've been busy beavers, mascot Buc-Ee included.

By the way, the image above comes from the book Subpar Parks, a collection of 1-star reviews of US National Parks along with original artwork. If you like the US National Parks, this coffee table book will give you a nice laugh. While this poster comes from the section on Big Bend, it also describes our day today in Joshua Tree.
