Happiest Place on Earth

Happiest Place on Earth
A rare moment not waiting in line for an attraction

This is a short post.

After leaving Death Valley, the hottest place on earth, we are spending 3 days in Disneyland, the Happiest Place on Earth™. In a role reversal, Greg is the tired and lazy one while Amy and Ari work to ensure we ride All. The. Rides. from 7:30 am until long after dark. Sounds like work but it’s been all fun, all the time. Though we may need a vacation from our vacation!

In the last 25+ years, we have spent a lot more time at Disney World (in Florida) than at Disneyland (in California), so it’s been interesting to compare them. We know some like to disparage Disney, but we find it a nice place to spend our time and money. Each to his or her own.

Of course, we have to mention the serious wildfires around Los Angeles. First, for the moment, there is absolutely no sign of fires around Anaheim, where Disneyland is located. Power is on. Air quality is excellent - better than normal for southern California. However, when we read the news reports, it’s scary that the most serious fire is between Malibu and Santa Monica - the area where we were just last week! For the moment, there is no impact on us, but it’s tragic for those who live and work there. We continue to read the news and will adjust our plans if there is any danger to us. Until then, we’ll enjoy our time here and wish well for those who are suffering.
