Final beach
We spent the last 2 days in Bahia Gonzaga, a bay on the Sea of Cortez. It’s like a smaller version of Santispac with fewer tourists and no sales hawkers. In shocking news (#sarcasm), Greg had a very active day: a long run on the beach, an hour on Nancy’s kayak, some time on the computer, and 2 more hours on Nancy’s kayak. Amy also had some time on Nancy’s kayak and a siesta in the RV. Unlike Greg, Nancy had the sense to stay off the kayak in the heat of the afternoon. (In case you’re wondering, our existing kayaks don’t fit well in the new RV, so we’re picking up our new tandem kayak on Sunday in Portland).

We enjoyed the day, each in our own way.
This has been our longest vacation ever, and we have mixed feelings about going home: yadda-yadda-nice-to-get-home but yadda-yadda-hard-to-leave-an-amazing-adventure. We’re already discussing the 2026 Yucatan caravan: one member of the caravan (with two dogs…) is interested, and it sounds like Horacio, the assistant wagon master, will also be on it. Two friends sweetens the deal! It’s also amazing to realize this next Mexico trip is only about 9 months away.
But the Alaska trip comes before that! Greg is already mentally preparing for Alaska: he has a long list of repairs and upgrades to the RV. Parts are already ordered. April and May will be busy!
