A few months ago, our friends Brian and Carol mentioned that their nephew runs an event called New York Bagelfest. Our calendar was free, and we could not pass an opportunity like that! We combined it with visits to our mothers earlier this week: Greg’s mother in Maryland, Amy’s mother in Arizona. So today, we met up in New York City.

And of course, we had to stop for a pastrami sandwich at Katz’s Delicatessen. The restaurant was crowded and the sandwiches were salty, fatty and delicious. Just as good as our last visit this spring.

Katz’s “slicers” hand-slice the meat for each sandwich

After dinner, we worked off a few of the calories by walking uptown on 5th Avenue, alongside Central Park. Then we returned to the Essex House Hotel - the same as our visit 6 months ago. Who cares if we’re repeating some of the same things - it’s not like we’re in New York every week.
